Desanders and Desilters

Purpose of Desanders and De-silters:

  • Desanders: These are designed to remove medium-sized particles (typically in the range of 40 to 70 microns) that remain in the mud after it passes through the shale shaker.
  • De-silters: These are designed to remove smaller, fine particles (usually in the range of 15 to 40 microns) that may still be present in the mud after de-sanding.

Features of Desanders and De-silters:

1.Cyclonic Separation.

2.Different Cyclone Sizes and Design:

  • Desanders: Typically use larger cyclones (e.g., 10-inch to 12-inch diameter) to remove larger particles in the 40-70 micron range.
  • De-silters: Use smaller cyclones (e.g., 4-inch to 6-inch diameter) to remove finer solids in the 15-40 micron range.

3.High Capacity:

  • Desanders and de-silters are designed to handle high volumes of drilling fluid and can operate continuously during drilling operations. This is crucial in maintaining optimal drilling conditions and minimizing downtime.
  1. Efficient Solids Removal:
  • Both units are designed for maximum efficiency in solids separation, which is essential for preserving the viscosity and other properties of the mud, as well as preventing issues like clogging of the pumps or drill bit.
  1. Compact Footprint.
  2. Integrated Systems.
